    HISTORY / ABOUT:

Church (if this cemetery is affiliated with a church):
    Denomination:
When established, first interment, where land orginated, etc: The church and cemetery were established in 1844 on a half acre of land donated by James Morrison. In 1853 his brother, David Morrison, donated another half acre. It was used as a Congregational church until 1873, when it became a meeting house for the Primitive Methodists. At this time, it was called Jackson's, after Thomas Jackson. For a time it was known as London Road East Church. In 1889, David Morrison deeded another quarter acre, on which a new brick church was erected, and the name reverted back to Oban. Services in this church ceased in 1961. The building was sold and moved away. The earliest burial was that of James Morrison, in 1844, shortly after he donated the land.
