Notes:
From the booklet "SACRED SPACE: A History of Wabash United Church" The Methodist Episcopal Church was built on the land settled by George R. Phillips, (Lot 5 Conc. 4). The trustees were Marshall Ney Phillips, Timothy Burwell and John Kelly. It was a frame building, lath and plaster on the inside, of a suitable size--about 24 x 40 feet--for its one chain (66 feet) square lot. Associated with this church on the Phillips farm was the burial ground (Phillips Cemetery) which now occupies the wooded knoll on the south side of the 4th concession not far from the original site of the church. News Paper Article: Cemetery Restoration: An Episcopal Methodist Church was built on the farm, an behind the church the Phillips cemetery was started for the pioneers of Wabash. The first burial in the cemetery was in 1866, the last burial was around 1924. The restoration of the Phillips cemetery in Camden Township was completed recently, and Camden Council is making plans to restore other cemeteries throughout the Township. This was done around 1965; it was the second cemetery to be completed by Camden Township. The original church ultimately became a barn and was still standing in the 1950's. David Phillips lived on the church property, his small house is still standing. The Barn/Church is long gone now.
