Thank you for your interest in volunteering to TRANSCRIBE! If you are only willing to volunteer "from home" be sure you've chosen a census from our Volunteer From Home list. If it's not on this list you will have to access the census on microfilm.

Please take a moment and review our Transcriber's Handbook before signing up. This handbook covers how to transcribe and answers many volunteer questions.

The requirements for volunteering are: pre-1851* - access to microfilm 1851 - access to the images at Library & Archives Canada and/OR access to microfilm 1861* - access to microfilm 1871 - access to the images at Library & Archives Canada and/OR access to microfilm 1881 - access to the images at Library & Archives Canada and/OR access to microfilm 1891 - access to the images at Library & Archives Canada and/OR access to microfilm 1901 - access to the images at Library & Archives Canada and/OR access to microfilm 1911 - access to the images at Library & Archives Canada and/OR access to microfilm *At times there are copies available. IF they are available this census will be listed on our Volunteer From Home page. If a census is NOT on that page, you will have to gain access to the census yourself. Ready?
