Established as a United Empire Loyalist settlement named Elizabethtown in 1784 by Loyalists William Buell, Daniel Buell, and Charles Jones. Renamed Brockville in 1812 in honour of Isaac Brock. Incorporated as a Police Village in 1832, a town in 1850, and a city in 1962.
