Former Names (no longer used): Mecklenburg (1788-c1792); Midland (c1792)

LOCATION:

Established 24 July 1788 as Mecklenburg, the name was changed to Midland by 1792. In 1798 consisted of the current counties of Frontenac, Hastings, Lennox & Addington, part of Nipissing, Prince Edward, and most of Renfrew. In 1826 consisted of the current counties of Frontenac, Hastings, Lennox & Addington, part of Nipissing, Prince Edward, and part of Renfrew; In 1838 & 1845 consisted of the current counties of part of Frontenac and part of Lennox & Addington.
