Rabazo Township

(Geographic Township)
Currently Exists

LOCATION:
South of Wawa, by the waters of the Michipicoten Bay. The two southern parts of the township are located in the most northern part of Lake Superior Provincial Park.
Historic (Geographic) Location*: Rabazo Township, Algoma District

The Provincial Government, under William Devis, decided to apply names of people with significant influence or contact to around 400 townships basically in Algoma. These were names of Mayors, politicans, Native Chiefs, engeneers, etc. All or most M.P.P. at the time had their names applied as new township names. I was also selected as "A Ministry of Natual Resources cartographer who has produced maps, many of Northern Ontario during the past 14 years." Dated by The Legislative Committee, March 13, 1974

A diploma was given to the selected persons. All the scrolls were equal as mine which stated: "The Government of Ontario has named the geographic township indicated in this scroll for Alejandro Rabazo in recognition of a valuable contribution to the development of the region. This name will appear on all official maps, records and documents of the province of Ontario on & after June 17th 1974 The scroll is signed by William Davis, Premier of Ontario, and Leo Bernier, Minister of Natural Resources.

**Former locations indicate where a place was if geographic boundaries changed.

Municipal location will help you locate the place as it is today (if it still exists), but will be useless if you're trying to find the place as it was located more than ten, twenty, or thirty years ago.
