In 1997 when OntarioGenWeb first debuted, GenWeb was at the forefront of genealogy on the internet. Any genealogy content made available online was done entirely by volunteers willing to learn how to create and maintain websites.

Things have changed dramatically since, and as companies and governments realized how important genealogy is, it changed how GenWeb was needed. It only stands to reason that GenWeb would also change so that we can continue to fill in the gaps and refocus our efforts where they're needed most.

As our webmasters have found new projects to focus on, the regional GenWebs have been incorporated into the provincial pages. The information offered is still available, just in a different place.
